B. Braun Medical Inc. will exhibit and host a Platinum Showcase presentation at the 27th annual scientific meeting of the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) to be held in Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 20-23. The presentation, "Navigating the Depths: Ultrasound Guided Short PIV Insertions -- Implications and Limitations for Practice," will feature a discussion of technology and procedures related to ultrasound guided peripheral IV insertion that highlights standardized approaches to patient assessment and techniques for vessel access.
Robert B. Dawson, DNP, MSA, RN, VA-BC, CRNI, CPUI,a vascular access consultant with PICC Academy, and Leianne Jinkins, RN, BSN, VA-BC, CPUI, a vascular access specialist with B.Braun, will be the featured presenters. The presentation will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel (Hermitage-E).Â
"B.Braun remains committed to combating these issues by providing a robust portfolio of safety-engineered IV therapy devices that offer patient protection against infection and optimum safety for clinicians in the workplace," says Tom Sutton, vice president of vascular access systems at B.Braun.
B.Braun will demonstrate the following safety-engineered IV therapy devices at booth (#202) during AVA. When attendees gain vascular access by using one of the following innovative products, B.Braun will make a donation to the AVA Foundation, which supports vascular access education and outreach. Â
- Introcan Safety® IV Catheter, which is designed with innovative passive-safety features to help eliminate accidental needlestick injury -- effortlessly. From insertion to catheter deployment to needle removal, clinicians are protected by a truly passive safety device that is activated automatically -- no extra steps required and cannot be bypassed.
- Introcan Safety® 3 Closed IV Catheter, B.Braun's latest innovation, which takes the same preferred passive safety-engineered needlestick protection found in Introcan Safety and adds additional protection from blood exposure. For safety and convenience, the Introcan Safety 3's unique multi-access blood control septum minimizes blood exposure during needle removal and each time the catheter hub is accessed.
- B.Braun's WHIN® Safe Huber Needle, the clear choice for implantable port access, integrating the design features of two safety devices in a single huber needle -- protecting clinicians from both needlestick injuries, and expelled blood and fluid. With an easy-to-dress design, the device includes a safety shield that covers the needle tip as it is withdrawn, for both clinician and patient safety.
-Caresite® Luer Access Device, the latest in B.Braun's needleless connector portfolio that offers a safe way to access IV lines without the use of a needle, which reduces the risk of accidental needlestick injuries. Input from clinicians provided the basis for the CARESITE design. The result is a device designed to help improve patient outcomes and clinician efficiency. CARESITE needleless connector with innovative positive displacement feature is designed to help reduce catheter occlusions while preventing healthcare workers from accidental needlestick injuries.
