Global Handwashing Day is October 15

Article

Launched by the Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW), the annual celebration of Global Handwashing Day is designed to foster and support a global and local culture of handwashing with soap; shine a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each country; and raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soap.

The goals of the PPPHW are to reduce the incidence of diarrhea and pneumonia in poor communities through public-private partnerships promoting handwashing with soap; support its partners large-scale, national handwashing interventions and promote replication of successful approaches; and share scientific evidence showing handwashing with soap to be an exceptionally efficacious and cost-effective health intervention.
