ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) this week released "CDC Guidelines: Multidisciplinary Care Prevents CRBSIs," a new consultative selling tool that provides customers with the basic information they need to understand and to prevent catheter-related infections. Sponsored by 3M Health Care Services, this informative flyer can be used by distributors as an educational tool for physicians, hospital workers, administrators, and nursing staff.
The latest tool in a series of flyers designed to promote clinical education and to drive distributor sales, "CDC Guidelines: Multidisciplinary Care Prevents CRBSIs" highlights the need for hospital workers to carefully select catheter entry sites and to follow CDC Guidelines when caring for ports, lines and dressings. Using the tool, distributors will be able to stress the need for sterilization products in order to prevent patients from succumbing to dangerous infections, which are major causes of morbidity and mortality among the nations hospital patients. The flyer also provides an infection prevention checklist, which caregivers can use to assess and improve their infection control program.
"Catheter-related infections are very common in U.S. hospitals," says Mike Ford, HIDA's vice president of distributor services. "With a 12 percent to 24 percent mortality rate and a cost of $25,000 each, these infections are dangerous, costly, and preventable. Distributors can help clinicians fight these infections using HIDAs new customer tool along with outside reference material, enabling healthcare providers to make informed decisions regarding the need for comprehensive infection control protocols."
The flyer is a HIDA members-only benefit, and is available at www.hidanetwork.com under the Consultative Selling Tools channel button.
