ICNet International Announces Technology Improvements to its Surveillance Software

ICNet International Ltd., a leader in infection prevention surveillance software serving more than 1,000 hospitals globally, announced today several new improvements to the reporting features of ICNet®. These new advanced reporting tools add flexibility and analytical depth to the suite of Agile Surveillance solutions for outbreak alerting, case management, surgical site surveillance and antibiotic stewardship. The demand for custom, powerful and meaningful information in infection prevention has never been greater, thus having the right tools has never been more important -- especially with the NHSN requiring increased reporting and surveillance for all hospitals.

ICNet software provides infection preventionists (IPs) with the ability to generate the required national benchmark reports for maximizing reimbursements, as well as access the full spectrum of NHSN electronic reporting and advanced analytic data mining.

ICNet Rate Reporting is a new suite of capabilities for the IP, with the inclusion of:

- Denominator data for custom rate reporting

- Automatic Benchmarking against national and local rates

- Enhanced NHSN reporting of Population Summaries and Event Reports

- Demonstration of the Relationship between Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) Rates and the Standardized Infection Ratio (SIR) Comparison Metrics

Example reports include new summary reports that summarize the organism and device incidents by week, month, quarter and year, as well as new Rate Reports that detail the rates of organisms and device-related infections; organisms rate measured per admission or per patient day; and device-related infections measured per device day. Rate reports can be both time-series based and comparative.

Multiple series reports feature a data filter for:

- Monthly VAP rate comparing individual hospital facilities over the last 12 months

- Summary and Rate Reports filtered by location, age, gender, ethnic group, admission source, admission type, consultant, speciality

With these new capabilities, IPs are able to quickly, efficiently and accurately find the data that is most appropriate for their facility, with reliable benchmarks and measurement protocols.
