Kimberly-Clark Professional Donates Care Packages to Michigan and Texas Schools Closed for Flu Outbreaks

ROSWELL, Ga. -- To assist two school districts that had been closed for two days because of flu outbreaks, Kimberly-Clark Professional has donated facial tissue and waterless hand cleansers to Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Mich., and Lovelady Independent School District in Lovelady, Texas. The company provided 1,000 boxes of KLEENEX Anti-Viral Facial Tissue and 500 bottles of KIMCARE Moisturizing Instant Hand Sanitizer.

February is still the height of flu season so we wanted to make sure these schools had what they needed to weather the rest of it, said Theo Karamallakis of Kimberly-Clark Professional.

Divine Child High School and the Lovelady Independent School District were both closed Jan. 27-28.  The closures gave the schools an opportunity to disinfect classrooms and enabled students to rest and recover, according to their principals.  The state of Texas has reported widespread flu activity for the past month and Michigan has reported regional activity, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

 On Jan. 26 we had 72 percent attendance when were normally above 96 percent, said Mark J. Parker, principal of Lovelady High School.  Thats a tough hit for us.  This donation will help us get through the rest of cold and flu season.
