Medline Pink Glove Dance Video Competition Begins

Raising awareness for early detection of breast cancer has a new tune literally. Medline Industries, Inc., the creators of the international YouTube® sensation Pink Glove Dance® and makers of the pink exam gloves, today officially launched the 2013 Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition. This is the third year of the competition, which includes the United States, Canada and now Panama, which is new to this years contest.

The deadline to receive submissions is October 4, 2013. All videos will be posted on the Internet beginning October 25 where the public can go online to vote for their favorite video. The winners will be announced November 15, with the winning team receiving a $25,000 donation in their name to the breast cancer charity of their choice. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded.

We cant wait to see the videos, says Andy Mills, president of Medline. The Pink Glove Dance is such a unique campaign for breast cancer awareness that encourages people from all walks of life to participate. Were especially excited because this years competition has been expanded to countries around the world making it a truly global movement.

In addition to Panama, new this year is a separate competition for Western European countries, including:  Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, France, Norway, Ireland and Denmark. Additionally, separate competitions are also being held in New Zealand and in Australia.

The original Medline Pink Glove Dance video premiered in the United States in November 2009 featuring 200 hospital workers wearing Medlines pink gloves and dancing in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. The original video has almost 14 million views on YouTube® and has been the inspiration for hundreds of pink glove dance videos and breast cancer awareness events worldwide.

For the past two years, Medline has held a national competition to find the best video in North America. Last year, the competition attracted 275 entries and more than 80,000 people in 42 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Canada.  Separate competitions were also in New Zealand and Australia.

Medline is donating a portion of each sale of the pink gloves to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help fund mammograms for individuals who cannot afford them.
