NAPPSI Launches New Campaign Against Suture-Needlesticks

Article

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- The National Alliance for the Primary Prevention of Sharps Injuries (NAPPSI) has developed a new nationwide campaign: Protecting America's Interns and Residents from Suture-needle Sticks (PAIRSS).

The campaign focuses on the danger of needlesticks from sutures to residents and interns. Suture needles account for more than one-third of sharps injuries suffered by residents, according to reports by the International Healthcare Worker Safety Center. The momentum is building: the American Medical Association (AMA) has already distributed information on this groundbreaking campaign. NAPPSI is looking for residents and interns to contribute to the PAIRSS Needlestick Survey.
