Each year, APIC awards its top honor, the Carole DeMille Achievement Award, to a deserving candidate who embodies the ideals and contributions of Carole DeMille. DeMille was a pioneer in the development of the role of the infection prevention and control professional and was known for her creativity, charisma, and tireless efforts to improve patient care through hospital infection prevention and control.
To nominate a colleague for the 2012 Carole DeMille Achievement Award, the candidate must meet the following qualifications:
- Be an APIC member who is actively involved in infection prevention and control
- Demonstrate the ideals of Carole DeMille, including knowledge of the present and a vision of the future of the profession.
- Provide evidence of contributions to the field of infection prevention and control (publications, presentation, community involvement, research, etc.).
- Demonstrate expertise in infection prevention and control
The nomination for this award consists of:
1. The completed application form.
2. A current curriculum vitae that includes research activities; publications; local, regional, and national APIC activities (offices held, committee memberships, presentations); special recognition for infection prevention and control activities; and community activities and involvement.
3. The nominators written explanation for choosing the candidate.
Award recipients receive a commemorative plaque, $1,000 and complimentary registration and travel to APICs Annual Conference and Award Ceremony. Award will be presented during Opening Ceremony in San Antonio, Texas.
