Salmonella Outbreak Worries U.S. Consumers

In the wake of the most recent salmonella outbreak related to tomatoes and now possibly hot peppers, plus a number of outbreaks linked to various contaminated produce items, many American consumers are scrutinizing the veggies they eat, and are in favor of a better checks-and-balances system for produce inspection and tracing. A new Associated Press-Ipsos poll indicates that almost half of respondents are worried about becoming ill after eating tainted produce and are not purchasing food items they would normally consume.
