Studies have shown that patients who undergo surgeries on weekends tend to experience longer hospital stays and higher mortality rates and readmissions.A new study -- published in the October 2015 issue of the journal Annals of Surgery -- by researchers at Loyola University Medical Center and Loyola University Chicago identify five things hospitals can do to improve outcomes of weekend surgeries.
