Stater Bros. to Offer Flu Shots in October and November

COLTON, Calif. -- Each fall and winter, the flu epidemic strikes. Most people recover completely, but some people experience severe complications. Flu shots are your best protection against the flu. This year, Stater Bros. wants to help you stay healthy and well.

Stater Bros., in cooperation with OnSite Wellness, will be providing flu vaccination clinics at select Stater Bros. supermarkets throughout October and November. Clinics will be open to the public (adults: 18 years or older only) and vaccinations will be offered at a low cost of $17. Vaccinations will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The flu is a respiratory disease caused by influenza virus infection. The types or strains of influenza virus change from year to year, and even within the same year. The flu can affect anyone, any age, anywhere. Those affected by the flu may have fever, chills, headaches, dry cough, runny or stuffy nose, and muscle aches.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that over 40 million Americans develop the flu and 100,000 are hospitalized. In the U.S., influenza and its complications have caused 20,000 deaths.
