Article

VIRGO (vpico.com), an information distribution company focused on the most innovative and complex business-to-business markets that fuel the U.S. and world economies, today unveiled the first event in a new program called the Infection Control Today Digital Summit.

A new experience in education, the Infection Control Today Digital Summit platform is a high-level education video-based event for infection preventionists. The unique platform features immersive television-viewing-like videos that provide both broad and deep information on the industrys most desired topics.

Infection Control Todays Digital Summit offers a one stop shop for our infection prevention audience to understand the questions, concerns, strategies and tactics behind key topics, says Kelly Pyrek, editor-in-chief of Infection Control Today. An immersive video-based environment, featuring infection preventionists and hospital leadership, the Digital Summit will deliver a wealth of actionable content that will ensure you are making the right decisions for the future of your infection prevention program.

The first Digital Summit is the 2013 Infection Control Today Digital Summit on Making the Business Case for Infection Prevention. The summit is sponsored by Xenex, Prezio Health, and Truven Health Micromedex Solutions. This summit will provide infection prevention professionals with the tools and techniques required to formulate and implement an effective business case for infection prevention program-related needs such as personnel, products, technologies and clinical interventions.

Digital summit presenters are Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC; Thomas Diller, MD; Elaine Crittenton, RN; and Katherine Steele, RN. Agenda items include:

- The Big Picture of Making the Business Case for Infection Prevention and Control: this session will detail how to assemble the data necessary to begin making the business case for infection prevention program, personnel, interventions and other resources.

- Championing the Business Case Among Key Stakeholders: this session highlights the perspectives of a hospital administrator and an infection preventionist who explain how to champion infection prevention among institutional leadership.

- Operationalizing an Infection Prevention Program: this session demonstrates the value of a hospital-based infection prevention program to secure the resources critical to its operations and impact on improving patient outcomes and healthcare worker safety.
