MaryLou Prinzivalli, DHSc, RN, CPHQ, CIC, LTC-CIP

MaryLou Prinzivalli, DHSc, RN CPHQ, CIC, LTC-CIP, is an infection preventionist at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, a 170-bed hospital located in Central Florida. Prinzivalli earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Downstate University in 1985 and began her nursing career in Brooklyn, New York.

She entered the field of infection prevention in 1988 and obtained Certification in Infection Control and Prevention in 1990. In 1991, Prinzivalli received a master’s degree in health care administration. The following year, she began working at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a quality specialist with shared responsibilities in infection prevention.

In 2007, Prinzivalli joined the Memorial Healthcare System, where she remained in infection prevention until relocating to Central Florida in 2021. She served as Membership Chair for the Broward/Palm Beach APIC Chapter for 10 years and was also an active member of FPIC. Currently, she holds a membership position with FPIC and recently earned her doctoral degree in health science with a concentration in education.
