The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology, now offers a special category of membership for nonsupervisory professionals in hospitals, giving them access to an array of valuable resources.
Priced at $85 a year, the Associate Membership category is designed to help biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs), clinical engineers, nurses, sterile processing professionals, and information technology (IT) professionals enjoy access to AAMI’s online benefits, tools, and resources. AAMI unveiled the new membership category on March 1, and it was developed exclusively for nonmanagers who deal with medical devices at healthcare delivery organizations.
“AAMI is excited to offer this new membership category, as we believe these front-line employees have much to offer in terms of fresh ideas,” says Shane Osborne, AAMI’s vice president of membership and marketing. “Educating and involving front-line staff at healthcare delivery organizations is a key step in ensuring quality and improving patient outcomes. This new membership category makes it easier than ever for them to join and get involved.”
In addition to getting discounts on AAMI webinars, conferences, and products, associate members will enjoy online access to popular publications, including BI&T (Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology), AAMI News, and Tech News Net. Other benefits of the membership category include a 20% discount on ICC certification exams and renewal fees, as well as the ability to post resumes on the online Career Center. These members also can make their voices heard on AAMI’s discussion groups and are eligible to join various committees.
“AAMI’s Associate Membership will bring more professionals from healthcare delivery organizations to the table to discuss the policies, procedures, and standards they reference every day to manage the technology patients depend upon,” Osborne adds.
Additional AAMI individual membership categories are available for other professionals, with fees starting as low as $230 annually for those residing in the United States, or $290 for international members.
