AAMI Offers Webinar on Endoscope Reprocessing

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will offer the webinar, "Endoscope Reprocessing: Critical Training Steps to Promote Patient Safety" on Feb. 10, 2015 at 1 p.m. ET. This webinar includes information on how endoscopes work, correct handling, guidance on reprocessing, and much more.
 
Endoscopy has become tremendously popular. As this technology continues to evolve, endoscopic techniques are constantly being refined. The only way to ensure maintaining standards is to keep up with the latest developments in the field. This webinar will discuss the developing trends driving endoscopy today, compare the different types of endoscopes and their anatomy, identify the types and parts of flexible and rigid endoscopes, and discuss how to reprocess endoscopes including care and handling tips.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe proper endoscope handling techniques
- Employ appropriate cleaning and processing procedures
- Apply suitable storage and transport procedures

The speaker is Michael Salloum, corporate SPD consultant for Synergy Health PLC.

Instruction is targeted to any area in hospitals to include sterile processing departments, office based surgery or ambulatory health centers (clinics) that produce sterile products for their patients, OR managers and directors, SPD managers. endoscopy suite nurses, endoscopy staff members, perioperative nurses, surgical technologists, central service staff members, and infection prevention nurses.

This program has been approved for 1.0 contact hour by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) and the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).

The registration fee is $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members.
