The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) announces that Linda K. Groah, RN, MSN, CNOR, CNAA, FAAN, has been selected as the new executive director/CEO for the association.
We are thrilled to have Linda join our team. She is an exceptional leader with the experience and stature to take AORN to the next level said AORN president Paula Graling, RN, MSN, CNOR, CNS.
Groah comes to AORN with myriad experience in healthcare and has held a variety of positions including: Chief operating officer and chief nurse executive at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco, director of nursing of the OR-PACU at the University of California San Francisco Hospitals and Clinics, and director of operating rooms at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.Â
She currently serves as assistant clinical professor at the University of California San Francisco School of Nursing. Groah also remains active as a member of several councils and associations in addition to AORN, including: the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, National League for Nursing, and she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
I am very honored and excited to be selected to fill this vital leadership position in AORN, Groah said. AORN has always held a very special place in my heart and this position affords me the opportunity to use my past experiences coupled with my passion for nursing and safe patient care as we continue to be a premiere nursing organization. I look forward to working with the board of directors, staff, membership and our partners in industry to meet the opportunities and challenges that we face now and in the future said Linda.

The 90’s Club: A Successful Hand Hygiene Adherence Campaign
July 9th 2024The "90’s SwipeSense Club" significantly improved hand hygiene adherence at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center. By incentivizing adherence through 1990s-themed rewards and using SwipeSense technology to track hygiene practices, the hospital increased adherence rates from 53% in 2021 to 84% by May 2024.
