Van Hook will manage APICs day-to-day affairs while the association conducts a search for a successor to Kathy Warye who served as APICs CEO since 2004. The search for Waryes successor is expected to take six months. Van Hook will not be a candidate for the successor CEO position.

"I am excited about the opportunity to return to my public health roots in my role as interim CEO at APIC," says Van Hook. "I hope that during the transition we can build upon Kathy Waryes excellent work and set the stage at APIC for a new CEO."

Van Hook has been an association executive for more than 25 years, leading nonprofit and governmental organizations at the local, state and national levels. He is currently president of Transition Management Consulting, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based company that specializes in providing interim executive management and transition consulting to associations and nonprofits.

Since co-founding Transition Management Consulting in 2000, Van Hook has served as interim executive for numerous organizations, including the Center for American Nurses, Society for Interventional Radiology, American Institute of Architects, American Geophysical Union and the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.

"We are delighted that Bob has agreed to guide us through this transition," said APIC 2010 president Cathryn Murphy, RN, PhD, CIC. "With his extensive experience in association management and interim executive engagement, we believe he is the right person to work with APIC through our executive leadership succession."
