Loaner instrumentation can pose numerous challenges to healthcare organizations' sterile processing departments and operating rooms. In recognition of the need to systematically manage loaner instrumentation and implants, IAHCSMM's Orthopedic Council has developed a position paper and sample policy and procedure template to help these departments rise above the challenges.
This first-of-its-kind policy template reflects subject matter associated with loaners, as well as minimal regulatory guidelines, and provides recommendations for creating loaner instrumentation policies and procedures.
