ATLANTA -- Inviro Medical Devices was honored as a finalist in the 2008 MAX Awards for the infection control companys marketing initiative to launch the InviroSNAP!Â® with InviroSTRIPEÂ®Safety Syringe. The Marketing Award for Excellence (MAX), presented by the Department of Marketing at GeorgiaStateUniversitys J. Mack Robinson College of Business and the Atlanta Business Chronicle, recognized the top innovations and marketing initiatives in Georgia during 2007.
Its an honor for our marketing program to be considered alongside programs from such major companies as United Parcel Service, Equifax and Kimberly-Clark Health Care, along with the other winning entries, says Gareth Clarke, chief executive officer of Inviro Medical Devices. The InviroSNAP! with InviroSTRIPE Safety Syringe features a patented, integral write-on stripe that allows critical information to be recorded directly onto the syringe barrel. The label helps healthcare institutions address Joint Commission recommendations regarding syringe labeling to reduce medication errors. The write-on stripe is an enhancement to the InviroSNAP! Safety Syringe. While this device looks and functions like a traditional syringe, it is designed to reduce the potential of a needlestick injury.
In evaluating the InviroSTRIPE entry, the panel of renowned marketing experts who served as judges commented, This is a simple solution to a huge problem; the write-on stripe on the safety syringe enhances the safety of both the healthcare worker and the patient. The company partnered with the American Nurses Association to conduct research to understand the need, and then used the results to design the solution. They effectively leveraged key professional influencers and developed a strong marketing program to launch the product.
The award-winning marketing efforts included direct contact with group purchasing organizations and hospitals via the companys sales force; advertising; public relations initiatives including sponsoring an independent survey about injectable medication errors for the American Nurses Association, leveraging opinion leaders; development of bylined articles in peer-reviewed journals and media relations programs. In addition, the company employed Internet search engine optimization, driving interested parties to its popular web site and created compelling trade show promotions.
Each winner and finalist has shown quantifiable results not only in product development, but in getting people to use those products, according to the Feb. 29 issue of the Atlanta Business Chronicle. From dozens of entries, the judges selected one grand winner, two winners and seven finalists. The winners were announced during a Feb. 29 ceremony at the Georgia Aquarium.
