Kathy Warye Joins BD as Vice President of Infection Prevention

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, today announced that Kathy Warye has joined the Company as vice president of infection prevention.

Prior to joining BD, Warye served as the CEO of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) for the past six years.

In this newly created role, Warye will be based in Washington, D.C., and responsible for leading BD's efforts to advance best practices and improve patient outcomes; working closely with key opinion leaders globally to define and promote effective methods for reducing infections in the healthcare setting; serving as the primary liaison to stakeholders in the area of infection prevention; and helping BD build collaborative relationships with organizations committed to preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

"We are very pleased to have Kathy join the BD team. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of infection prevention," said Vince Forlenza, president and chief operating officer of BD. "Her expertise and passion will be crucial as BD pursues its commitment to preventing HAIs."

During Warye's term at the helm of APIC, the organization doubled in size and gained recognition as a global leader in infection prevention. Warye was recently ranked No. 46 among the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Prior to joining APIC, Warye held key management positions in several high-profile organizations in the nation's capital. She oversaw the National Science and Technology Education Partnership's extensive efforts to expand and improve K-12 education programs. She also served as senior vice president of education and government programs for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), where she oversaw its education and certification programs, as well as government affairs and marketing activities.
