Pharmacy OneSource Announces Free Webinar on Positive Deviance

Article

Pharmacy OneSource, software-as-a-service provider of Sentri7, a real-time infection prevention surveillance, documentation and reporting system, announces a complimentary Webinar on positive deviance. The speaker is Dottie Borton, an infection preventionist at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, who will speak on "Positive Deviance: Another Tool for Infection Prevention." The Webinar will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 from 12 p.m. ET to 1 p.m. ET.

Most healthcare personnel respond that hand hygiene and standard precautions are essential in preventing infection, however, observations of behavior don't always match the expected actions. Positive deviance offers another approach or tool to achieve sustainable behavior changes that can decrease and prevent transmission of infection. Borton will provide an overview of positive deviance as well as some outcome examples of implementation at one healthcare facility.

Borton has more than 35 years of experience in infection prevention and control in variety of healthcare settings. She is a member of APIC and is active in the Philadelphia - Delaware Valley Chapter 15. She has served as president, secretary, education chair, and member of board of her local chapter. Borton has lectures and presents posters and workshops on infection prevention and control topics at local, national, and international venues. She is currently serving on HAI Advisory Panel for the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority.
