The deadline for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) mandate to report surgical site infections (SSI) to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) is rapidly approaching. The presenter, Tom Jordan, RN, BS, will review the basics of the SSI module in NHSN's Patient Safety Component. This review will include each aspect of the SSI reporting process as well as NHSNs transition to using Standardized Infection Ratios (SIR).
Jordan has more than 25 years of experience as a registered nurse. Prior to becoming an infection preventionist, he worked in pediatric intensive care, trauma nursing, and employee health.
