Ecolab Acquires Assets of UltraClenz

Article

Ecolab Inc., a leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has acquired the assets of UltraClenz, a privately held developer of electronic hand hygiene compliance monitoring systems and dispensers based in Jupiter, Fla.

“The acquisition strengthens Ecolab Healthcare’s electronic hand hygiene compliance technology and product dispenser portfolio,” said Paul Chaffin, senior vice president and general manager of global healthcare at Ecolab. “The integration of UltraClenz’s offerings with our existing hand hygiene program will provide customers with best-in-class solutions to improve hand hygiene compliance and patient safety.”

UltraClenz offers a proprietary “patient zone”-based hand hygiene monitoring system that requires compliance when healthcare workers are near or interact with patients versus traditional “room zone”-based systems that measure compliance when a healthcare worker enters or exits a room. This patient-centric approach better aligns with World Health Organization’s recommendations for hand hygiene to maximize patient safety.
