The Wisconsin Division of Public Healths annual Healthcare-Associated Infections Prevention Program report shows more healthcare facilities in the state met or exceeded the national standard for many infection rates in 2012.

CLABSI SIR among reporting facilities was 0.44, indicating an occurrence which was 56 percent lower than the national level and a 21 percent reduction compared to 2011.

CLABSI SIR among reporting NICUs was 0.64, indicating an occurrence which was 36 percent lower than the national level and a 10 percent reduction compared to 2011.

CAUTI SIR among reporting facilities was 0.87, indicating an occurrence which was 13 percent lower than the national level and a 17 percent reduction compared to 2011. SSI SIR for colon procedures was 0.92, indicating an occurrence which was 8 percent lower than the national level.

Additionally, MRSA prevalence among reporting facilities decreased significantly from 0.82 percent during 2011 to 0.69 percent during 2012. C. difficile prevalence among reporting hospitals increased significantly from 0.46 percent during 2011 to 0.65 percent during 2012 and may partially be explained by an increase in the number of reporting hospitals.
