SHEA to Hold Annual Infection Control and Epidemiology Course in July

The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) announces that its 15th annual Fellows Course in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology will be held July 6-8, 2011 at John Hopkins University in Baltimore. The faculty includes course directors from:

John Hopkins University, Brown University, University of Maryland, Wake Forest University, University of Pennsylvania and Washington University - St. Louis.

This three-day training course offers an interactive series of sessions on basic healthcare healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention strategies, healthcare-associated infections and problem pathogens. This course includes didactic lectures, meet the expert dialogues and diverse panel discussions led by skilled faculty from various specialties.

This course meets requirements for infectious disease fellows for coursework in healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention as outlined in the ABIM Website. In addition, physicians, residents and other healthcare practitioners who are new to the field will benefit from this overview of the roles of healthcare epidemiologists, and current topics and evidence-based prevention strategies applicable to healthcare-associated infections.

The cost is $50 for SHEA Fellows and students; $300 for SHEA members; $550 for general registrants and $700 for corporate registrants.
