ECRI Institute Webinar Explores Best Practices for Tracking Endoscopes During Cleaning, Patient Use

Article

Some hospitals track endoscopes by etching or labeling the scopes with a unique control number which is stored in a centralized tracking system. Others apply durable machine-readable labels or purchase endoscopes with integral RFID chips which can then be tracked with an automated endoscope reprocessor containing a chip reader. With a variety of choices available, hospitals around the nation are seeking guidance on which option is best for them.

ECRI Institute will host the webinar, “Tracking Scopes: Best Practices for Identifying Endoscopes during Cleaning and Patient Use,” on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET, which will provide best practices for tracking endoscopes and will feature speakers from ECRI Institute and from hospitals that have had success in endoscope tracking.

This webinar is designed to help participants discuss the various ways to track endoscope use down to the patient level and identify successes from hospitals and review their methods.

The interactive format of ECRI Institute’s webinar will provide time for participants to communicate with the panel during the Q&A session. This webinar is directed towards risk managers, clinical and biomedical engineers, material managers, OR managers, OR technicians, scope reprocessing staff, and other healthcare professionals. More CRE related resources can be found on ECRI Institute’s free resource site.

Members of ECRI Institute’s Health Devices System™, Health Devices Gold™, SELECTplus™, PSO, Healthcare Risk Control™, and Health Technology Assessment™ programs will receive access to this webinar at no cost as part of their membership with advance registration.
