GOJO to Hold Symposium on Improving Healthcare Hand Hygiene

GOJO Industries is hosting at the annual conference of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) an Interactive Breakfast Symposium: Better Ways to Measure Hand Hygiene Compliance and Successfully Engage Your Staff: Lessons From the Field on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at the Omni Nashville Hotel.
The keynote speakers are global healthcare leaders in the field of medicine and hand hygiene. The speakers are:
• Emily Landon, MD, assistant professor of medicine, specializing in infectious diseases and global health, at the University of Chicago
• Michael Gardam, MSc, MD, CM, MSc, FRPC, director of infection prevention and control at the University Health Network, and assistant professor of medicine at the University of Toronto

Both speakers will share perspective and innovative strategies that address both hand hygiene compliance measurement and ways to improve and sustain compliance. Landon will discuss her experiences with utilizing and gaining acceptance for the use of hand hygiene technology. She will also detail the pros and cons of the different types of systems and provide insights into how you can successfully implement a hand hygiene monitoring system with the engagement of your staff and leadership. Gardam will present his approach to improving hand hygiene compliance in a healthcare setting and how he engages staff to own hand hygiene compliance and determine ways to improve overall compliance rates. Jim Arbogast, PhD, GOJO vice president of hygiene sciences and public health advancements, will serve as the moderator for this panel discussion.

"We all know how critically important hand hygiene is in preventing healthcare-associated infections and are pleased to have those at the forefront of hand hygiene compliance participate in the GOJO Symposium. We also know how difficult it can be to get staff engaged in what can feel like an old, but critical topic, especially when utilizing technology as the primary measure," says David Mackay, GOJO vice president sales and marketing, healthcare. "Our objective with the symposium is to give APIC attendees useful insights and provide an opportunity for interactive discussion with these two thought leaders who have significant experience implementing compliance improvement and measurement tools and engaging fellow staff members to improve hand hygiene compliance."

Breakfast will be provided at the symposium and 2.0 CE credits are available for those that attend. Register for the GOJO Interactive Breakfast Symposium today. For more  information about the GOJO Booth 500 at the APIC 2015 Annual Conference go to: http://tradeshows.gojo.com/Home.aspx
