The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) has created a deputy executive director position and has hired Denise (Dee) M. Jones to fill the new role.
As deputy executive director, Jones will assume a supportive role under IAHCSMM executive director Betty Hanna and will directly assist the association and the IAHCSMM executive board in meeting the growing needs of its membership.
“IAHCSMM has grown significantly in recent years and continues to do so. I am delighted to have a capable deputy executive director at our office headquarters to assist with our ever-growing day-to-day responsibilities and help us continue to offer more – and better – services to our members,” noted Hanna.
Jones' past leadership experience makes her a suitable fit for the new position. From 2003 to 2007, she served as assistant executive director for the American Society of Anesthesiologists, a national physician organization of 40,000 members. During that same period, she also served as executive director for the Association of Anesthesiology Program Directors and the Society of Academic Anesthesiology Chairs, which represent 130 anesthesiology, pain medicine and critical care residency programs. In these roles, Jones was responsible for a wide range of core responsibilities, including meeting planning; governance, leadership and staff support; communications; and member services support. Prior to joining the IAHCSMM team, Jones served as a communications and management services consultant for JDSJones Consultancy in Lombard, IL.
“We believe Dee's experience, along with her dynamic personality, makes her a terrific addition to our association,” said IAHCSMM president Lisa Huber. “IAHCSMM has always been an association on the move. Having an executive director and deputy executive director working in tandem will help us to better tackle new and existing projects, and remain a leading-edge, forward-thinking association.”
