Providing timely and detailed coverage to one of the hottest issues in healthcare, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) has released the latest edition of its award-winning Horizons magazine, with the entire publication focusing on sterilization and reprocessing.
This issue provides in-depth research articles on the latest practices and challenges in reprocessing reusable medical devices, as well as advice and practical tips from manufacturers, regulators, clinicians, and sterile processing experts.
This broad-based collaboration with six significant organizations underscores our decision to tackle this tough challenge. Every link in the healthcare chain plays a vital role in the sterilization of medical devices, and we must all work together to ensure patient safety says AAMI president Mary Logan.
With a distribution of more than 10,000, Horizons will be mailed to all AAMI members and distributed widely at AAMI's Annual Conference & Expo in Charlotte, N.C., June 2-4, 2012.

The publication covers topics such as:
- The top 10 risks in the sterilization and reprocessing field
- Cleaning verification and analysis of cleaning protocols
- The science of sterilization
- Sterile processing benchmarks
- Reprocessing instructions and device design
The edition also includes implementation stories from the field and industry perspectives.
